When Medallion Sports opened in 1964, founders Sal and Rita Licata built more than just a sporting goods store—they created a family-run institution in Riviera Beach, Florida. Focused on providing quality uniforms, equipment, and awards, the business quickly became a trusted resource for local athletes and teams.
Over the years, five of their six children, along with several other family members, helped run and expand the business across Palm Beach County. Medallion Sports remained a cornerstone of the community for decades until it was passed on to new owners, Matt and Katie Bain, in 2024.
As huge sports fans and longtime volunteer coaches in their children’s softball, baseball, and flag football leagues, Matt and Katie understood the deep connection between sports and the community.
While focusing on upgrading technology, they continue to work alongside Kevin, the youngest Licata sibling, and his nephew Justin, whose experience and knowledge help maintain the store’s long-standing reputation for quality and service.
Customers still come in daily, sharing fond memories of shopping at Medallion for sports gear when they were kids.
